In Bold Colors

I'm in a new phase :)
I guess this a cry against this gray, cold, wet winter that doesn't wanna go away.
These babies make me feel better.
And I saw mimosas somewhere today! Yay!

This Week's Update - Hanniscrafts, Nat's Bracelet & more

There are several things I'd like to share with you, my dear reader, this week.
First, I received my beautiful new bracelet I ordered from Nat of NorthSore Days.
The weather this week was so cold and gray and this bracelet warmed my heart with it's story of the beach. She uses high quality materials including New Zealand's  ocean shell beads.

If you like Natalie's creations as much as I do, here is where to get them:

Another great thing I would like to share is that I'm guest blogger at hannicraft by Hanni, my dear friend from Hungary.

Please go over to see the post (she really made it look great) and if you don't know Hanni, make sure to see her work. She is very talented and makes miracles with yarn and fabrics.
Make sure to visit her Etsy shop too:

And last, but not least: I had two sales in the first week at in.cube8r.
I call it a start :)
I've been working on a new collection - I'll post about it soon. (Hint: bright colours this time!)

My Baskets at in.cube8r!

Encouraged by all your attention, I have been working on my crochet baskets ever since this post:
Crochet Baskets
Thank you all so much for your constant support! xox

Now, you can imagine that my baskets started popping out from each corner of my home. I had to do something about that!
I thought of Etsy, but most of my readers are from overseas and Australian postage is too high for me to be competitive on Etsy.
I thought a gallery would be a better choice for me at the moment.
And here is my good news:
in.cube8r gallery in Melbourne
is selling my baskets starting tomorrow, August 10!
Oh, boy, am I excited!
Here are some photos of what I've prepared:

Please wish me luck!
I hope this will inspire you to go our and show off your crafts. Maybe make some money with it too...

Crochet Baskets

I've been making these crochet baskets lately.
I want to make a collection for my home and then some for sale.
The twine inspired me - this is not your regular yarn. I have experimented with cooking twine before:

Click to see more about my 'Down-to-Earth Bag' and Wire & Twine Hearts.

Now this isn't cooking twine. The twine I've used for these baskets is thicker and a little grayish. It reminds me of sailing ropes, so the baskets kind of naturally tend to coastal decor. I really started loving these.

However, while I was working on my baskets, I found something great another blogger-sister is making.
Please visit Hanni's Hannicraft here to see a similar crochet basket (and many more lovely projects).

I love that small detail added there: the handles.
So my baskets might get updated one of these days :)
I'll let you know.

And here's another lovely basket, made by Hanni:

I've started a 'Crochet Baskets' board on Pinterest. I'll show it here soon.

Now I really need to focus on Easter. I've got gifts to prepare!

Getting Ready for 'Made in Thornbury'

I am preparing to participate at 'Made in Thornbury' Craft Market in July.
Apart from decorated boxes, I will show crocheted and knitted winter accessories this time.
Here are some of my hats:

I'd love to see this hat and wrap worn over a long coat and boots, something I would call the 'Oliver Twist Style' :)

I'll let you know how I go with meeting a person who would like that kind of a look as much as I do.

DK

Easter Craft Ideas - Part Three

Ever since I came to live in Australia, I have a problem to really get into the right mood for holidays. Everything is so... opposite here. I am never sure which time of the year it actually is and what the next coming holiday should be.

My Easter Craft Ideas posts are the product of me trying to put on my 'Easter hat' and think Easter and not autumn.
Now, Easter weather in Melbourne can be nice, but I will always miss all the green gardens full of daffodils.
This year, we are approaching this holiday with cold, gray and rainy weather (however, it can always change to better in one week). And, in my mind, Easter is green, yellow and white. It means spring! :)

The other day, I thought of a great December spent in America and all the lovely ladies wearing red and green sweaters and accessories while approaching Christmas. And I thought I might do exactly the same thing this Easter. I can create the mood I need (and I need to think it's spring!)

That is how this 'necklace' was born - I needed it to be green and yellow and flowery. I'm wearing it to work tomorrow! And, tomorrow night - I will make a pair of hand warmers in same colors. (Of course I'll post pictures - you bet)

The work is very simple - if you have ever crocheted anything, you will be able to make it.

The colors are the ones that will bring the Easter mood wherever you go.

Don't miss my next post this weekend - I'm showing you some cute little (easy to made) egg cosies.
See you then!

Make & Save with Yarn

I bought this yarn last year.
I loved its fluffiness and the fact it was cotton, and now I'm starting to love pink!
Well, it was cheap too, so I decided I would buy some :)

This is what I've done with it so far:

You've guessed it right - I did this in February :)
I loved combining yarn and left-overs of a tunic of mine for the heart-shaped potholder.
Then I couldn't stop there, so I went to my recycling corner and found a household paper tube which I cut, covered with some paper (with pink hearts) and I finished my napkin rings with my pink yarn.
I made some more pink items in February, I'll show you later...

Now, a colleague of mine has got a new baby girl. While he was on leave we prepared gifts (we do that for each new baby in our office). I remembered my pink yarn again :)
P. is coming back to work tomorrow and here is what I made for little Ava:

Where Knitters & Crocheters Meet

I found this community site today.

It is a place for knitters, crocheters and other yarn lovers to meet and share.
This is also where you can keep record of your stash, your needle collection, projects etc.

I think I'll like it very much.

Here is the link if you want to check it out:
