Girly Bookmarks - Part Two

Girly Bookmarks

I keep buying craft supply - staff that I need and some that I might never use...

Once I bought these 'jewels' for a project, but when I took them out of the package I decided the quality was too poor for that particular project.

Last night I finally found a fun way to use them - I one of them on each side of a giant paper clip and taa-daaa - they made great girly bookmarks.
Take a look:

I think buttons would work great too. I'll try to  make some and let you know :)

Yo-yo flower embelishment

Here is how to make a yo-yo flower and some ideas on how to use it.

This is how I start. You can use a template to draw a perfect circle. I just folded this piece like this:

Then I just rounded the ends of the triangle and my circle was good enough.

I didn't need the perfect shape and an exact size for this project, so I started with a piece that measured approximately 15x15 cm and the finished product measures around 7 cm. 

Once you cut your circle, just fold it like this:

and go through it with the straight stitch:

You can choose to do this part with more attention to detail and then iron the finished product - it all depends on what you want to achieve.

Now pull the tread and there you are:

So this is what we wanted for a start. I was to embellish a white little-girl crochet hat, so I added a crochet flower (just chain forming five petals).

Finally, I added one of my m&m's beads. Here is the result:

I could have added just a button to my yo-yo flower and it would still look great. 

If you want to make broach, you can cut a piece of felt and glue it to the back of your yo-yo flower. Then add a pin. 

You can also use yo-yo flowers to embellish hair accessories,cushions, curtains, hand-made cards... Possibilities are endless, really.

My Little Treasures - Salvos Finds & More

I went to one of Salvos stores the other day and look what I found there!

These cute little ones were neatly ironed and packed in a cellophane bag closed with a heart shaped sticker :)

And look at this:

Blessed be the heart of whoever was this thoughtful :)

I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do with these precious items, but I just couldn't possibly let them sit at Salvos.

For now, I want to keep everything as it is, but at some point I might turn gingham cloths (or one of them) into pillows.

I just love knowing that I have someones time and love (which is life actually) to treasure. My imagination is bursting with all possible stories that might be hidden in these humble pieces and that makes them soooo precious to me.

I wish I had more time to shop around for such things :(

And now look at these babies:

I found them in a two-dollar shop after work last Friday. There are four in each color.

I might use some of them for decorations in my son's room.

I will let you know when I do something with these (there are so many possibilities).

Getting Ready for 'Made in Thornbury'

I am preparing to participate at 'Made in Thornbury' Craft Market in July.

Apart from decorated boxes, I will show crocheted and knitted winter accessories this time.

Here are some of my hats:

I'd love to see this hat and wrap worn over a long coat and boots, something I would call the 'Oliver Twist Style' :)

I'll let you know how I go with meeting a person who would like that kind of a look as much as I do.

Today I just wanted to let everybody know I am still around and preparing new projects for this blog and the craft market I intend to participate at soon.

This is a picture I made at Gold Coast two weeks ago.
(It is so cold in Melbourne now, this looks like a very, very distant memory already!)
