Flower and Garden Show Melbourne

Hi there!

We have a great flower and garden show in town - in fact, this is the greatest show of that kind of the southern hemisphere!
I went there today and made around 400 pictures.

Of course, I couldn't wait to share some of them with you guys.
Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I don't feel I need to talk much here :)

There is so much more I'd like to show you! I think that roses and 'floral fashion' deserve special posts.

Now to the gardens:

Ans look at this transformation!
Before:

After:
And of course this garden is fully sustainable!

Here are some more ideas for DIYs:

OK, enough pics for one post.

Tomorrow I'll talk a little about myself. Namely, I was tagged by Hanni from Hanni's Crafts into something like 'truth game' and I'm going to answer her questions in a post.
If anybody is interested to be tagged in this game, please let me know. I think it's fun and improves connections.

So, till tomorrow then!

Crochet Baskets

I've been making these crochet baskets lately.
I want to make a collection for my home and then some for sale.
The twine inspired me - this is not your regular yarn. I have experimented with cooking twine before:

Click to see more about my 'Down-to-Earth Bag' and Wire & Twine Hearts.

Now this isn't cooking twine. The twine I've used for these baskets is thicker and a little grayish. It reminds me of sailing ropes, so the baskets kind of naturally tend to coastal decor. I really started loving these.

However, while I was working on my baskets, I found something great another blogger-sister is making.
Please visit Hanni's Hannicraft here to see a similar crochet basket (and many more lovely projects).

I love that small detail added there: the handles.
So my baskets might get updated one of these days :)
I'll let you know.

And here's another lovely basket, made by Hanni:

I've started a 'Crochet Baskets' board on Pinterest. I'll show it here soon.

Now I really need to focus on Easter. I've got gifts to prepare!

Recycle: From Trash to Flower Wall Decor

This week I've recycled some trash into a fine flower wall decor.

I bought a slow cooker a year and a half ago. I was packet with these styrofoam 'bumpers':

Now, organising experts say if you haven't used it for a year, you probably never will - get rid of it.
Nope.
I'm a very busy woman - everything takes more time for me. So I kept my styrofoam trash.
This week I finally made it.
I had those sewing patterns I found at Salvos (some months ago). I had no clue what I wanted to do with them at the time I bought them.
Then I found that 'animal print' Scotch tape. And that's all I needed for this project.

I covered the 'frame' with the tape. Then I took the sewing pattern and just cut circles in four different sizes - 12 circles of each size.
I scrunched the paper lightly and than worked with it a little so that the flowers look a little fluffy.
(You can do whatever you want with tissue paper really and it will still look good.)

I used tiny nails to pin the flowers - the pins you can see here are there for the looks - they can't keep the flowers in place.

I love mu new wreath/frame. I will probably use it in different ways.
I like how it looks with a simple monogram.

I hope everybody's having a great weekend. We had some lovely Irish parties in Melbourne today.
To all our Irish friends: HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY! :)

Printable 'Fruits of the Spirit'

Today I have three versions of 'The Fruits of the Spirit' printable instant art.
This is my early Easter gift to you :)

The background and the frame used for the first one come from Karen - The Graphics Fairy.

For the other two I used photos I made on Good Friday last year.

Last week was great for me!
I've got really attached to this blog lately and try to have at least one project a week to share with you lovely people. And you love me back - my projects get featured often, the number of your visits grows daily. My washing board project got over 1000 hits!
I even have over 100 followers as of last week :)
And Jill from I Know the Plans I Have for You surprised me with the Liebster Blog Award!
At the office, I was assigned tasks that are more of a challenge for me and make that part of my life more interesting too.
There is one problem though: I'm constantly exhausted by travelling 2 hours one way to work. I need a solution for this soon - I need to either make more money to be able to rent another house or be able to reduce hours at work and make less money but more life :)
I would really appreciate it if you remembered me in your prayers. Many thanks.

With love,
DK

The Liebster Blog Award ! :0

I am so excited to inform you all that Jill from I Know the Plans I Have for You chose me for the Liebster Blog Award.

For those who haven't heard of it before, the award is designed to recognize and promote blogs that have less than 200 followers.

This lifted me up and now it is my turn to choose five other blogs for the same award.
Well, this part is not easy at all... But here are the rules:

1) Thank the person that gave it to you. Many thanks, Jill!

2) Link back to their blog

3) Put the award in your blog

4) Present the award to 3-5 blogs with less than 200 followers

5) Leave a comment to let those blogs know that you've recognized their awesomeness!

The five blogs that I so gladly follow are:

The Smith Garage
Check out Mr. Smith's blog and see how a busy man manages to do it all. While you're there, you will also want to visit The Smith Hotel - Mrs. Smith's blog. Lovely.

The Seasonal Cottage
Denise is such an inspiration, I just love her blog!

Izzwizz Creations
Sorry, I don't even know this person's name, but you should definitely check out her blog :)

Swedish Corner Down Under
Pernilla has moved to Australia not so long ago (just like me).
I love Swedish culture and their crafts and design. Pernilla has brought some of it 'Down Under'.

Mia decora
I chose Mia as a representative of an army of great crafters and bloggers coming from Poland.
I find her romantic style very attractive.

Cheers!

Irish Blessing - Printable - 3

May the road rise up to
meet you.
May the wind always be
at your back.
May the sun shine warm
upon your face,
and rains fall soft
upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you
in the palm of His hand.
